Current research on forest immersion focuses on two components-phytoncides, and negative ions. Phytoncides are naturally occurring chemical compounds to help plants and trees protect themselves, in the process they may also help us in similar ways. Negative ions are tiny molecules produced in nature that may offer mood-enhancing benefits, reduce blood pressure, and help boost the immune system. If you are feeling as if life’s daily pressures and stresses are getting you down, perhaps consider a forest immersion experience.
